Memory, care, and relationship: Literature and prevention beyond cognitive decline.
Don't forget me: Fabio Marin tells the story of Alzheimer's through his love for his mother.
On Friday, September 18, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., the Municipal Hall of Fonzaso will host an evening dedicated to memory, relationship, and care, through the presentation of the book "Don't forget me. Let's talk you and me, mom" by Fabio Marin.
The initiative promoted by the Municipal Administration, through the Civic Library, on the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, represents an opportunity to shed light on a condition that affects not only those directly impacted but entire families and communities, representing one of the great challenges of our time.
At the center of the evening Don't forget me. Let's talk you and me, mom, an intimate and engaging work that arises from the author's personal experience and the relationship with his mother Gilda, constantly accompanied in the difficult and tormenting journey of the disease. An intense and profound dialogue that guides the reader through memories, episodes of daily life, moments of strong clarity, and others of total bewilderment, showing how much Alzheimer’s can affect not only memory but also personal identity, habits, and human relationships. During the event, the author's personal testimony will be accompanied by authoritative contributions of a professional and scientific nature, with the goal of providing the audience with a comprehensive reflection on the topic.
Roberta Padoan, a neurologist at AULSS 1 Dolomiti, will provide a detailed examination of cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease from a neurological and clinical perspective, offering useful elements to understand the process that accompanies a person from the onset of the first signals to diagnosis and care.
Alongside this significant contribution, Annalisa Basso, Director of the Feltrino Agency for Personal Services, will address the current issue of assistance and support for people affected by senile dementia and their families, particularly focusing on the difficulties accompanying the disease’s progression, with special regard to the concrete need to initiate a dense network of care and dedicated services in the area.
To further enrich the event, there will be a screening of the short film Don't forget me, created by Marin himself with Giuseppe Petruzzellis and Aplysia, capable of translating into images the emotions and suggestions contained in the book, through a touching story made of memory, affection, fragility, and dialogues.
