The handmade works of knitting, weaving, and embroidery from the missions of Latin America return to Cortina.
From October 11 to 26, 2025, at the spaces of the Rimoldi Museum, on the ground floor, original weaving products will be exhibited, crafted by Andean girls who, organized in cooperatives, are assisted by the volunteers of “Operazione Mato Grosso” and the Don Bosco3A Association, a missionary movement founded in 1967 in Latin America by Father Ugo De Censi.
In the 100 missions operating in Latin America, interventions have been made in the fields of health, agriculture, reforestation, distribution of drinking water, and social services. However, the greatest commitment is directed towards young people.
Among the various works still operating, the "taller", professional school-colleges lasting five years, with different specialties: weaving, knitting, carpentry, wood carving.
In the field of weaving, alpaca wool, bobbin lace, looms, and ancient local artisan traditions, combined with the extraordinary talent of Andean artisans, give rise to clothes, coats, bags, carpets, scarves and various accessories characterized by colorful hues and original decorations.
The journey has also been made possible with the precious contribution of a stylist friend, who has been providing suggestions for years in the creation of the handcrafted items.
