The program of this concert features a series of pieces composed from the late 1600s to the mid-1700s in the form of the sonata for violin and basso continuo, which was very popular during the Baroque period, where the violin is given the virtuosic part while the harpsichord serves as the accompanying instrument in the style of the time.
Three different styles but linked by the musical taste that was widespread in Europe, especially at courts and in aristocratic circles.
In particular, Corelli's sonata “La follia” utilizes a very well-known theme that was used by many composers also in Renaissance music.
Vivaldi, primarily active in Venice but whose music was known in Vienna, Dresden, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam. Handel, a musician familiar with the Italian style but who was mostly active in London as an organist and opera composer.
Corelli, connected to the environment of Rome, creator of the Concerto Grosso which influenced many composers, including the great J.S. Bach.
