On Sunday, March 15, there will be a guided tour of Borgo Piave, a journey to discover log drivers, historic bridges, and traditions on the Piave River, in two shifts at 10:30 AM or 2:30 PM.
An exciting route through the most authentic soul of Belluno: it starts from the Ponte della Vittoria and the ancient “Pontet,” where the Piave still tells of its strength, before delving into the heart of Borgo Piave, once a bustling port of log drivers from Cadore. Among alleys and views of the river, the 16th-century Casa Secco will be visited, which houses the Museum of Dolomitic Masks, guardian of frescoes and costumes from the Belluno carnivals.
The journey will continue to the church of San Nicolò, the patron saint of river men, and to the picturesque Botegòn, the ancient inn where log drivers found shelter and which today hosts a small museum rich in tools, photographs, and stories of work and courage.
The itinerary will conclude on the bank of the Piave, at the point where it meets the Ardo stream, where once flowed the channel that powered mills, tanneries, and forges. A fascinating journey to discover how water has shaped the life, culture, and identity of Borgo Piave.
The guided tour is led by the tour guide Marta Azzalini and organized by Veneto Segreto in collaboration with Borgo Piave ETC.
