Arias and dances: cultured and popular between Italy and England

On the most magical night of summer, that of San Lorenzo, the Sanctuary of Saints Vittore and Corona transforms into a bridge between heaven and earth, between the sacred and the human.

Under the gaze of the martyrs and the shimmer of the ancient stones of this sacred place, a unique sound journey.

“Arias and Dances: cultivated and popular between Italy and England” is not just an auditory experience, but a dialogue between two nations and two worlds: the cultured one of the courts and the vibrant one of the squares.

In particular, the musical wealth of the Renaissance and Baroque is explored, an era in which the distinction between art music and tradition of popular inspiration was a thin and permeable boundary.

The majesty of the organ will meet the archaic soul of the instruments masterfully played by multi-instrumentalist Fabio Tricomi, from flutes to guitar, up to the ancestral rhythm of the drum and the marranzano.

This unique timbral experience, ranging from the contrapuntal rigor of Byrd and Frescobaldi to the rhythmic vitality of street dances, represents a tribute to the history, faith, and art of one of the most precious jewels of the Feltrino territory.

The sounds of the organ and ancient instruments will evoke battles, tears, dances, and well-known arias from ancient times, curiously called, to name a couple, the Monica or the Frescobalda.

These themes are not just notes, but fragments of life that transcend social class barriers.

The program explores a timeless connection: that between the cultured world and popular inspiration, an encounter that has animated music for centuries, from the Renaissance to the present day.

Together, one will be led into the musical weavings between the 16th and 17th centuries, where prayer becomes dance and dance becomes spirit.

May the music, like the shooting stars of the night of San Lorenzo, illuminate the millennia-old beauty of the Sanctuary.
