The Church of the Our Lady of Sorrows in Mel is worth a visit because it is a treasure trove of art, history, and legend hidden in the heart of Valbelluna. Visiting this place means discovering rare masterpieces, such as the precious 15th-century tabernacle depicting the Albanian hero Skanderbeg, and admiring splendid paintings of the local Renaissance. It is a building that tells a story of incredible resilience, having survived devastating fires and the requisitions of the Great War thanks to the devotion of its inhabitants. Finally, it houses the relics of Saint Faustus, before which the ancient local families swore a historic peace that ended generations of bloody conflicts.
The dates on which it will be open are every first Saturday of the month from June to October (June 6, July 4, August 1, September 5, and October 3) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
