Tambre is a mountain and tourist municipality of Alpago, located at 922 meters above sea level.
It has 1,320 inhabitants living in beautiful villages with enviable views, immersed in greenery and silence.
Located at the foot of Mount Cavallo and surrounded by the Cansiglio Forest, an ancient domain of the Most Serene Republic, this place is a destination for tourists both in summer and winter. The proximity to the Veneto-Friuli plain and the arrival of the highway to Lake Santa Croce allows visitors to reach their destination in a very short time.
Appreciated for its countless trails, it offers excursions to be done on foot, on horseback, and by mountain bike.
For the more adventurous, there are high-altitude excursions at the mountain huts, or flying high with paragliding and hang gliding from the nearby school on Mount Dolada, or in winter for practicing ski mountaineering.
The trails of Cansiglio, known and frequented from spring to autumn, transform in winter into splendid cross-country skiing tracks.
A piece of paradise for golfers who can enjoy an 18-hole course right in the heart of the Cansiglio Forest.
In the streams, fishing is practiced, and even in the nearby Lake Santa Croce, there are pikes, chubs, perch, and the prized Lavarello/Coregone.
Traditional cuisine is of good quality, featuring savory dishes, polenta, "s’ciosèle," game, mushrooms, cheeses, and cured meats that surely deserve a place of respect.
Don't forget the desserts made with berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, currants…) gathered right in our territory.
To learn about the history of these populations, one must visit the Natural History Museum and the museum of the Cimbri people, located in the Forest.
