Chiesa di San Paolo, Via S.Paolo,1 - 32032 Feltre (BL) IT +39 3296116142 segreteria@fondacofeltre.it

The church of San Paolo is located at the eastern end of Feltre and was consecrated and dedicated to the conversion of Saint Paul by the suffragan bishop of Trento, Michele Jorba, in 1520. In 1611, a fire destroyed almost the entire sacred building, which was rebuilt on a smaller scale.

There was a guesthouse here: every January 25th, the day of the conversion of Saint Paul, the administrators of the church and the guesthouse were elected. The hospice and the church were governed by a prior. A particular aspect was the purpose of the will of Jacopo Baffadossa, also known as Palinuro (who died in 1575): to donate ten denarii as a dowry to a girl chosen from among 10 maidens from Feltre. Like all the other city confraternities, the school of San Paolo was merged into that of Santa Maria del Prato, which managed the largest hospice in the city. This explains why today the church is owned by the Feltre hospital Santa Maria del Prato.
