The exhibition Mondovisioni: the documentaries of “Internazionale” tells the complexity of our time through exemplary and unfiltered stories that engage and concern us.
THE PLOT
From the magical city of Tepoztlán, Mexico, fifteen-year-old Karla intimately and unapologetically guides the audience on her journey of self-discovery, facing the joys and uncertainties of adolescence alongside society's gender prejudices. As Karla navigates her transition, director Kani Lapuerta transforms eight years of footage into a joyful film that presents an encouraging and sweet coming-of-age story through Karla's exploration of her transgender identity, speaking of resilience and the complexity and difficulties of growing up, turning out to be both specific and universal.
