For Matteo Righetto the mountain is not just a physical place, but a shelter of the soul and a symbol of belonging.

From his earliest steps, he felt the irresistible call of the shady woods, the majestic peaks, and the trails that seem to lead towards infinity. Thoughts for an alpine heart tells how the mountain is his “love at first sight,” becoming a constant presence and a place of growth, introspection, and discovery.

Righetto explores every aspect of this world: the intimacy of the woods, the grandeur of the rocky walls, the simple and genuine rhythm of life for those who live among the mountains. Through images and maps that trace the paths and the places dearest to the author, he invites us to immerse ourselves in a world where nature and man meet in harmony.

Matteo Righetto lives between Padua and Colle Santa Lucia. He is the author of the novels Savana Padana (Zona, 2009),La pelle dell’orso (Guanda, 2013), Apri gli occhi (TEA, 2016), and  Dove porta la neve (TEA, 2017). For Mondadori he wrote the “Trilogy of the Homeland” and, together with Mauro Corona, Il passo del vento (2019). For Feltrinelli he published I prati dopo di noi (2020), La stanza delle mele (2022), Il sentiero selvatico (2024), and Il richiamo della montagna (2025). He is President of the Livinallongo-Colle S. Lucia Section of the Italian Alpine Club.
