Il restauro della Casa natale di Tiziano

Cadore - Tre Cime - Comelico September 10, 2025 18:00

Locality: Magnifica Comunità di Cadore, Pieve di Cadore

Cadore - Tre Cime - Comelico

The birthplace of Titian Vecellio, one of the symbolic sites of the artistic and cultural heritage of Cadore, is currently undergoing the most significant conservation restoration since its opening as a house museum in 1931.

Thanks to the Interreg Italy-Austria program “Museums for All between Innovation and Tradition – Itat 46-002”, the project has not only improved the conservation status of the building but also made it fully accessible to people with disabilities, revamped the explanatory displays, and prepared the spaces for future temporary exhibitions.

The intervention, overseen by architect Gloria Manera, designer and project manager, has revealed unprecedented aspects of the building's construction type, which had never been analyzed in depth before.

The construction technique, representative of the era, reveals precious details about the building’s construction technique and the domestic environment of the Vecellio family.

Matteo Da Deppo, director of the Museums of the Magnificent Community of Cadore, will retrace the history of the building, from its transformation into a museum up to the present day, highlighting the central role it has played in enhancing Cadore's identity.

The reopening of the birthplace of Titian is expected by the year 2026.

MATTEO DA DEPPO, a graduate in art history from the University of Padua, is a collaborator in the cataloging project of the ecclesiastical assets of the Belluno Curia.

Since 2012, he has directed the Museums of the Magnificent Community of Cadore, for which he coordinates cultural events and organizes exhibitions.

He conducts research aimed at enhancing the history and local heritage.

He collaborates with the monthly magazine Il Cadore and with Tele Belluno to promote knowledge of local art.

GLORIA MANERA, graduated with honors in Architecture from IUAV University of Venice, specialized in the Restoration of Monuments and is registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Belluno.

Throughout her career, she has deepened her training by attending a Master's in Conservation and Reuse of Civil and Religious Architectural Heritage at the Forum of Restoration in Vittorio Veneto in 2002.

Always active in the protection and enhancement of architectural and artistic heritage, she has developed extensive experience in restoring protected buildings – including churches, bell towers, villas, historic palaces, and monasteries – in designing museum exhibits, in the redevelopment of archaeological sites, and in the functional recovery of historical complexes.

Among her most significant interventions are the restoration and display design of the Diocesan Museum of Feltre, the musealization of the archaeological site of Castelliere di Noal in Sedico, the recovery of the Birthplace of Pope Luciani in Canale d’Agordo, as well as numerous interventions on religious and civil buildings in Veneto and Friuli, including the Church of San Pietro in Belluno, the Charterhouse of Vedana, the Bell Tower of Caorle, Palazzo Miari, and Palazzo Bertagno.

Since 2018, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Diocesan Museum Belluno-Feltre, and since 2023 she has been part of the Sacred Art Commission of the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto, actively contributing to the promotion and care of ecclesiastical cultural heritage.
