The ascent to Cima Grappa from the Rifugio Bocchette, the starting point of our hike, develops along mountain paths that traverse woods, windy ridges, and plateaus, offering a deep immersion in the history of the area. Trenches, tunnels carved into the rock, military posts, and remnants of fortifications accompany the path, silently recounting the harshness of life in the trenches and the sacrifice of thousands of soldiers.
Each step brings to mind the dramatic events of World War I, making the hike more than just a natural experience. Upon arrival, the view opens up to the imposing Military Sacrarium of Cima Grappa, a solemn monument that holds the remains of over 20,000 fallen soldiers.
