The defensive barrier of the Fort of Pèden (Battery Listolade) was built around 1890 southwest of the village of Listolade, at the base of the Pale di S.Lucano on an orographic terrace (Còi de Pèden) within the framework of tactical solutions to counteract possible penetrations from the north of the historic Austrian enemy. The station was structured for 4 pieces of artillery of medium caliber and the location was carefully chosen to counter military actions at the meeting of the Val Cordévole and Val Corpassa routes but also on the more distant Val Biois. During World War I the stronghold was reinforced with various observation posts at high altitude and with additional pitches for mountain artillery pieces. Moreover, the defenses of the Fort of Pèden never participated in war actions and the construction was made to explode beforehand on the night between 6 and 7 November 1917 by the retreating of Italian Army.
