Nature just a stone's throw from home: from Grappa to infinity in search of the invisible"

Valter Binotto, a passionate photographer, lives in Possagno, a small village at the foot of the Grappa.   He mainly photographs nature ''just a stone's throw from home''. This is not because he is not attracted to distant nature; quite the contrary. Rather, he finds that near home, every opportunity is good to be ''on the spot''. He can follow the changing seasons and within those seasons, he can track the shifting landscapes that present themselves day by day.

 Just a stone's throw from home is Monte Grappa, the first great mountain that the gaze encounters from the Venetian plain. Just a stone's throw from home, he finds the Asolani hills, all nestled between two great rivers: Piave and Brenta.  In these places, which he has consistently followed for a long time, he has become an unwitting witness, knowledgeable observer, and promoter.

From Grappa, he monitors the sky in search of extraordinary phenomena such as elves, sprites, and auroras borealis. He has been awarded in the most important nature photography competitions, including the ''Wildlife Photographer of the Year'' where he received two commendations (2011 and 2013) and where in 2016 he won a category prize in the plant section.
