Departure and arrival: Forcella Zovo (circular route). Starting from Forcella Zovo (1600 m), reachable by car from Costalta, Valle di San Pietro, or Val Visdende. From here, a flat trail immersed in the coniferous forest (trail marker 169) quickly leads to the base of the eastern walls of Mount San Daniele. The trail soon becomes steep, navigating the gorge carved by the Vissada stream, which cascades among the rocks, forming a beautiful waterfall. Once out of the gorge, the trail becomes less steep and crosses the meadows at the foot of Mount Schiaron (on the right) until it leads us to the pass (approximately 2040 m), from where we follow the trail marked 165. The path climbs gently through the meadow and a thicket to reach the saddle that separates Mount San Daniele from the Crode dei Longerin. From the saddle, we descend through the scree to the west of Mount San Daniele and then through the forest that leads to Colle dei Pradetti. We reach the comfortable dirt road, trail marker 154. From here, it takes about 15-20 minutes to return to the starting point. Pay close attention to the first stretch of the descent: the exposed trail tends to become lost; the ground is slippery with rocky sections.
Elevation gain: approximately 530 m. Difficulty: EE Duration: 4 hours (excluding breaks)
