On Saturday, September 20 at 4:00 PM, the book "Andemo in Merica" will be presented at the headquarters of the Association of Bellunesi in the World (at via Cavour 3). Free entry.
An opportunity to rediscover a fundamental page of our history and reflect on the current value of that extraordinary migration experience. Free entry.
Andemo in Merica reconstructs a long history made of hard-earned achievements, starting from the initial arrivals in 1875 and reaching our days. Inside, there is not everything but all sorts of things: the misery of Veneto and Friuli of the time; the false attractions with which the poor were recruited; the dramatic journey across the Atlantic; the prohibitive conditions; the crucial contribution of emigrants to the well-being of their respective countries, with Brazil and Argentina at the forefront; but also the "taliàn," the language never forgotten; traditional festivals; the Triveneto imprint of a do-it-yourself economy. And above all, the countless life stories of the Venetians and Friulians.
